By entering the stair parameters, you can generate a complete set of stair railing parts with a single click using the Railing Order Splitting feature.
This tutorial focuses on the functionality available when Railing Type is set to Staircase.
Notice: For more information about Guardrail and Security Grille, refer to Railing Order Splitting (Guardrail), Railing Order Splitting (Typical-Security Grille) and Railing Order Splitting (Simple-Security Grille).
When Staircase is selected as the railing type, the following key terms are used throughout the feature, as illustrated below:

The Railing Order Splitting feature is available only in TubesT (Steel Structure Version, Professional Version, 2-Chuck Version, and Entry Version). It is currently not supported in TubesT-H.
Feature availability by version:
| Feature | 2025V2 | 2025V2 | 2025V3 | 2026V1 | 2026V1.5 |
| Staircase | × | √ | √ | √ | √ |
| Guardrail | × | √ | √ | √ | √ |
| Typical-Security Grille | × | × | × | √ | √ |
| Simple-Security Grille | × | × | × | × | √ |
Click Railing Order Splitting in the left-side toolbar of the main interface to open the feature window.
After entering the Railing Order Splitting interface:
The preview updates in real time according to the current parameter settings.
You can freely zoom, rotate, and move the stair model during preview:
| Operation | Description |
| Scroll mouse wheel | Zoom in/out |
| Hold mouse wheel and drag | Rotate the model |
| Hold right mouse button and drag | Pan the view |
| Click Switch View | View the model from different angles |
| Click Initial Position | Restore the default view |
Additional operations are also available in the preview area:
Open a previously saved stair railing parameter file (typically a *.hdr file).
Save the current stair railing configuration. The next time you click Open, selecting the saved *.hdr file will restore all parameter settings.
Measure the distance between any two selected points.
Show or hide dimensional annotations in the preview.
Configure default preferences, such as the Handrail Measurement method and preferred Post Measurement Points.
Click Create Part to generate a complete set of stair railing parts in the parts list.
You can navigate through the parameter pages by:
Regardless of which parameter page you are currently editing, once the preview matches your design requirements, simply click Create Part above the preview window to proceed to the nesting interface.
After the parts are generated, continue with the standard workflow: nesting, sorting, and exporting.
(1) Rails: You can select either Single-Rail or Double-Rail.
(2)Segments: Defines how many sections the railing is divided into by adding inner posts between the first and last posts. Up to 3 segments are currently supported.
(3)Inner Posts: Posts that provide structural support for the stair railing. By default, Single Post is selected. When Segments is set to 2 Segments or 3 Segments, you can choose Single Post, Same Step, or Different Steps.
Notice:
You need configure both Stair Parameters and Section settings.
(1)Stair Parameters
Configuration method: Choose either Angle or Step Width & Height.
| Angle |
The angle between the handrail/rail/stair slope and the horizontal plane. |
| Step Width & Height |
Enter the actual tread width and riser height. The software automatically calculates the appropriate railing angle and component lengths. |
(2)Section
You need configure detailed section information for the Handrail, Posts, Rails, and Balusters.
Available section types include:
You need configure detailed dimensions for the Handrail, Posts, Balusters, and Rails.
The Dimensions page includes the important parameter Spacing, which refers to the clear horizontal distance between two adjacent members.
Depending on its location, spacing is divided into the following types:
| Posts spacing |
Horizontal distance between two posts. |
| Balusters spacing |
Max spacing: Calculates the minimum number of balusters required based on the specified maximum spacing and distributes them evenly. Equal distribute: Evenly distributes spacing within each section according to the specified number of balusters. |
| Side spacing |
Sets the spacing between the end posts and the adjacent balusters for each section independently. |
You need configure Assembly, Technique, Quantity of Sets, and Parts List.
(1)Assembly
Defines how components are connected. Assembly methods can be configured for Position A, Position B, and Position C.
Three assembly methods are available:
| Marking layer for welding |
Using Position A (Handrail-to-Post connection) as an example: A saddle feature is cut on the post, which is welded to the handrail. Welding marks are added to the handrail. No tube hole is created. |
| Cutting layer for assembly |
Using Position A (Handrail-to-Post connection) as an example: A tube hole is cut on the handrail. The post is inserted into the tube hole and no saddle feature is cut on the post. When this assembly method is selected, Rails in tenon depth can be configured. Rails in tenon depth specifies how deep the post is inserted into the handrail during assembly. It affects connection strength and stability and should be set according to actual application requirements. |
|
No assembly |
Using Position A (Handrail-to-Post connection) as an example: A saddle feature is cut on the post, which is welded to the handrail. No welding marks are added and no tube hole is created. |
*Enabling this option affects the actual spacing at both ends of the handrail.
If the final post length cannot be confirmed in advance, the post can be processed to the maximum expected length and trimmed on-site during installation.
(2) Technique
For cutoff line, the following options are available: Weld Seam Compensation, Bevel and No Technique.
For tube holes, the following options are available: Intersect Hole, Maximum Outline, Bevel and No Technique.
(3) Quantity of Sets: Specifies the number of stair railing sets to generate.
(4) Parts List
*The displayed length is for reference only. Actual part lengths shown in the cutting software shall prevail.
No. If you need to edit the generated parts, use the Add Stair Part feature instead. Although it cannot generate a complete stair railing set automatically, the resulting parts can be modified afterward.
Enable Merge Identical Parts in User Settings.
Click Preferences on the top toolbar and select the desired measurement preference.
You can choose the option that best matches your measurement habits.
