Compound Bevel is an efficient solution to complex welding requirements.
When no weld seam is reserved in the part design, you can use the Compound Bevel feature in TubesT to modify the design and create a weld seam.
Difference between Add Bevel and Compound Bevel
This tutorial describes Compound Bevel. For details about Add Bevel, see Add Bevel.
In 2025V2.2 and 2025V3, compound bevel parameters are configured under Compound Bevel, where the bevel generation method can be set through Describe the superposition process.
The following changes were introduced in 2026V1 and later:
To use these features, make sure your software version supports them. If you are using an earlier version, upgrade your nesting software first.
The feature is available in TubesT Steel Structure Version, Professional Version, TubesT-H and Small Tube Professional Version. It is not supported in TubesT Lite, TubesT Small Tube, or 2-Chuck Version.
Before using this feature, click the gear icon in the upper-left corner of the software, then go to User Settings → Machine Config and enable A axis bevel cutter. The A-axis swing limit should be configured according to your machine specifications. A typical value is 45°.
It is recommended to configure Compound Bevel after importing the part and before adding techniques.
Click Compound Bevel on the top toolbar. Select the Welding Filling Position and set the compound bevel parameters according to the welding requirements.
Then, select the scope to which the settings apply and click OK to apply them.

Depending on whether the weld is filled from the outside or inside and whether a root is reserved, Welding Filling Position is available in the following three types. More types will be added in future versions to support scenarios such as double-sided weld filling with or without a root. |
| Bevel angle |
As shown below, angle A of the compound bevel is the Bevel Angle. |
| Root length |
A root face is retained at the bevel root to prevent burn-through. The length of the root face is the Root length.

Section vector: The normal vector before bevel recognition is used as the zero-degree base vector. This results in approximately the same A-axis angle. |

Bevel vector: The normal vector after bevel recognition is used as the zero-degree reference vector, resulting in a more uniform weld seam. |

When Current View is selected, you can apply the settings to the selected toolpaths or to all toolpaths in the current part displayed in the software interface. |
