TubesT - Differentiate Part Thickness

Ⅰ. Overview

For closed-section profiles, parts with the same outer diameter but different thicknesses will be grouped into the same section by default and nested onto the same tube during the nesting process.

If it is necessary to separate parts by thickness, even when they share the same diameter, the 【Differentiate part thicknessfeature can be enabled. This ensures the parts are nested onto separate tubes accordingly.

Ⅱ. Instructions

1.Permissions

Starting from version 7.1.29, TubesT supports Differentiate part thickness for enclosed tube profiles (e.g., square, round, and rectangular tubes).

Starting from version 2025v3, TubesT supports Differentiate part thickness for Channel Section, Angle Section, and C-Section profiles.

If the function is missing, click the right link to upgrade the nesting software → Download link.

2. Notes

Differentiate part thickness must be enabled before importing parts.

② For H-Beam, T-Section, and Flat Steel, there is no need to enable this feature.  As long as the section parameters differ, parts will be nested to different tubes in TubesT.

3. Steps

On the User Preference Settings page, enable Differentiate part thickness. Once enabled, parts imported afterward will retain their thickness attributes. Part with the same  diameter but different thicknesses will be assigned to different section groups and nested separately.

※Notice: This feature must be enabled before importing parts. If parts have already been imported, the option will be grayed out and unavailable.

4. Others

When Differentiate part thicknessis enabled, hint will appear to display detailed parameters when hovering over the section in the parts list.

Ⅲ. FAQS

1、Why is Differentiate part thicknessgrayed and cannot be checked?

Because you need to set the 【Differentiate part thickness】 before importing parts. If a part has been imported, this function will be grayed.

In the latest version, once parts are imported (as shown in the left-side part list), Differentiate part thickness will appear greyed out.

If parts have already been imported, and you need to enabled this setting, click New to start a new nesting task. Then, enable 【Differentiate part thicknessand re-import the parts.
