Different cutting machine models have different nesting requirements. Some require long parts to be nested at the end of the tube, while others require short parts.
For example, on cutting machines with 7-axis delivering or dodge functions, the last part on the tube must exceed a certain length. In this case, use Nest in Tail: long part.
On some machines, the middle chuck needs to be unclamped when processing the tube tail, leaving the tube tail clamped by the main chuck. To ensure proper clamping, the part at the end of the tube should not be too long. In this case, use Nest in Tail: short part.
Step1 Select Nest in Tail: Long part.
Nest in Tail: Long part is available only when Utilization First is selected.
Step2 Set the length range for long parts in Detailed Settings.
For example, if the part length must be greater than 800 mm, set the range to 800 mm < Part Length < 6000 mm.
Notice: Do not reverse the lower and upper limits.
Step3 Set Priority on in Detailed Settings.
Since this feature adds constraints to nesting, a trade-off must be made between maximizing material utilization and prioritizing the specified condition.
For example, the original nesting result is as follows:
If Utilization is prioritized while also attempting to place long parts at the tail, only two tubes can meet the condition:
If Condition is prioritized and Utilization is optimized as much as possible, three tubes can meet the condition, but more material may be used:
Therefore, select Condition or Utilization according to your actual requirements.

Nest in Tail: Short part is available only when Utilization First is selected.
Step2 Set the length range for short parts in Detailed Settings.
For example, if the part length must be less than 1200 mm, set the range to 0 mm < Part Length < 1200 mm.
Notice: Do not reverse the lower and upper limits.
Step3 Set the Tail Range.
Tail Range: A section of a specified length measured from the tail of the nestable tube, as shown below.
Unlike Nest in Tail: long part, which only requires one long part to be placed at the tail, multiple short parts may need to be placed there.
Therefore, set a Tail Range. During nesting, the software places as many short parts as possible within this range.
The Tail Range does not include the Dead zone. It starts at the point located one Dead Zone distance from the tube tail.
Step4 Set Priority on in Detailed Settings.
Since this feature adds constraints to nesting, a trade-off must be made between maximizing material utilization and prioritizing the specified condition.
The strategy is the same as that for Nest in Tail: long part above.
Select Condition or Utilization according to your actual requirements.

Select Nest in Tail, and then configure the detailed parameters in Detailed Settings.
