Cutoff Function

Function Description

When a part is too large to be placed on one plate, the part can be cut into sections. The cut sections are then placed on multiple plates for cutting, and the original part can be obtained by welding afterwards. The Cutoff function can be used if such a need arises.

Function Interface

The Cutoff function is available in both the Drawing Processing Interface and the Part Editing Interface, as shown in the figures below. It can be accessed from the left sidebar and under  Optimize Drawing.

Operation Method

  • Click the Cutoff button on the drawing editing sidebar and the mouse cursor in the drawing area will display as a pale purple knife.

  • Manually draw a straight line, and the preview of the cutting line will be shown as a white dashed line.

  • Left-click the mouse to cut the closed contour according to the preview.

  • Finally, identify the part—the original part will be split into two, forming two new parts.

Key Notes

1.Cutoff is mainly used when the part is too large, and it can only be applied to drawings rather than parts directly. After a drawing is imported, the software will automatically recognize drawing as parts.

How to convert a part into a drawing?

Method 1: Select the part, right-click the mouse — Break parts to drawing.

Method 2: Select the part and click Cancel Part.

2.The cutting line must intersect the closed contour at least at two points; otherwise, a pop-up prompt will appear: Cutoff failed, doesn't find closed contour.
